Lee Brand: The Cool Mayor?

My number one takeaway from the interview I did with Mr. Brand was that he is a total policy wonk. I interviewed all three Republican candidates for Mayor and no one knew their shit like Lee. That's the thing that will make Lee Brand an effective mayor---to say nothing of whether he will be a good or bad mayor.
Unfortunately, cities demand more of their mayors than the ability to know stuff. We want someone cool, sexy, an entertainer. And to make it worse, Fresno just came off of having the sexiest mayor in the country probably. Lee Brand has some sexy shoes to fill, and unfortunately he can't really do it.
So in a way, I feel bad for Brand.
But in another way, I don't. Lee Brand has been taking a dump all over Fresno since he became mayor, particularly in his policies to not make Fresno a sanctuary city and to support a ban on recreational marijuana.
Lee Brand should be sticking to policy and good policy at that. Instead, he's making bad calls and embarrassing himself by trying to be the "cool" mayor.
What's next? This?
Actually, come to think of it, that might be alright.
