Me-n-Ed's to Unveil Self-Serve Beer at Fresno Location
Yesterday, a secret source deep inside the corporate ladder at Me-n-Ed's informed us that their location at Bullard and West is currently being remodeled. When it opens (our source says next week) it will feature a beer pouring system unlike any other in Fresno: a self-serve system called iPourIt.
Last night we had Abby Blackstone, Perry Champlain, and Ed from Me-n-Ed's (no, not that Ed) sit down for a round table discussion on what this means for Fresno. The following is a transcript of that conversation.
Abby: I want to begin by saying that this sounds just great! I'm not exactly sure how it works, but the servers won't have to be bothered by you to get another drink and you don't have to be embarrassed by what you order because no one will know! All around it will just be great for everyone!
Perry: I agree, Abby, but I'd like to add something if I can. I will be able to drink as much as I want and no one will know! This is exactly what an old booze hound like me has been waiting for. They thought Fresno was the drunkest city before but just wait until we get a hold of this!
Ed: Are you guys f****** kidding me? This is some god-d**** horse s***.
Perry: Whoa, Ed. There's a lady present.
Ed: Does it look like I give a **** taco? No. Do you have any idea what this means for the employees?
Abby: No tips?
Ed: F*** tips. It means no more free beer.
Abby: What's he talking about, Perry?
Perry: Oh Abby, So sweet but so simple. I believe he is referring to the time-honored tradition of restaurant staff to pour themselves a drink when no one is looking.
Abby: People don't do that, do they?
Ed: Are my bosses going to see this?
Perry: Probably.
Ed: Then no. People don't do that.
Abby: Oh. Well...great!
Perry: What else you got for us, Ed?
Ed: Well, another thing. People don't know how to pour beer and they're gonna make a big foamy mess. Then I'm gonna be expected to clean that up and I can't even get drunk on the clock by stealing from my employer? Not in my Fresno.
Perry: It sounds like this is going to be a big hardship for you, Ed.
Abby: I don't know, Ed. It sounds great to me. And Me-n-Ed's will save money.
Ed: Trust me! They have money to burn.
Perry: Maybe Peeve's should install a system like this. That way Craig won't have to pay employees to pour beer.
Ed: Huh?
Perry: Nevermind, Ed. Nevermind.

From there, the conversation drifted to local politics, wine, and then Ed started going off about he missed Lemmy. As time went on, it became clear to us that Ed was not a great employee and we apologize to Me-n-Ed's for having to endure employees like him.
