Downtown Buildings That Would Make Great Bars (Part 2): Hotel Virginia

by Perry Champlain

Hello again. It seems I'm writing quite a bit these days. Maybe the idiots who run this blog will take me off freelance and make me an official staff writer. (Editor's note: Shut up, Perry)

Today I want to bring you a building that should have a bar in it (although the whole thing being a would be a bit absurd.) And this building is the Hotel Virginia.

Here's a nice pic of it I stole from someone else's blog.

The Hotel Virginia is located on Kern Street, which is also called "that nice part of downtown". Kern Street is a nice place to go for a stroll and it may very well become a great place to pass out in a gutter.

I don't know. I haven't been to The Republican yet.

What makes this building particularly ideal for a bar is all that commercial space on the bottom floor. Apparently there's already restaurants down there, so you know it's zoned appropriately.

Side bar, real quick. One of those restaurants is Tree of Life and "many of [their employees] are recovering from drug and alcohol addictions," so putting a bar next door might not be the best idea.

But regardless. Look at that beautiful space for bars! Imagine having a drink on a hot summers day while watching people going for strolls! That's the dream.

What would make this whole deal even better is if they took all the office space out of the top two stories and turned it into swanky-ass apartments. I would hella live up there, especially if there was a bar down below.

You wanna stop DUI's? Make everyone in Fresno live above a bar.

HOTEL VIRGINIA! YOUR FUTURE AWAITS YOU!
