Review: Wyse Fools

by The Editor

Have you heard of Wyse Fools? You might not have. They only have 10 followers on Twitter. (I feel like an 18 year old girl writing that, but the sentiment remains.)

On the surface, they're an art collective of "three family members" (nepotism much?) If you've seen their work, you'll know they've got talent.

But I'm not here to talk about that. Talented artists are a dime a dozen.

What these guys do that catches my attention is the shows they put on.

Maybe you've been to one.

Maybe you've been to one and you didn't know it was put on by them.

In September, they put on an art show, a sort of ode to The Simpsons called Eat My Shorts 2 (I guess there was an Eat My Shorts 1). They got a ton of artists to contribute work, there were food trucks (they even got Dusty Buns to create a Krusty Burger and they used yellow cheese for the first time ever), it was at Tioga Sequoia so you could drink while looking at the art, AND there was a huge turnout. All of this happened and it wasn't even art hop.

The shows these guys put on are always top notch---and not just "top notch for Fresno". They're top notch for any city.

On Monday, I posted about the CCCVPA. The owner(?) of CCCVPA posted on Facebook and said he "predicted" that I am a supporter of the Arts (it's not a prediction if it's currently happening. what a jackass.) But he's right. I am a supporter of the Arts. More importantly, I am a supporter of good art. Wyse Fools push Fresno's art scene beyond "good". We're damn lucky to have them.

If you don't believe me, they're putting on a show on March 3rd at Arthouse. Check it out and make up your own mind.
